Heilbronn – a city of many facets

There's a reason why the German Graduate School of Management and Law is located in Heilbronn. The city is at the center of Heilbronn-Franken, the Region of World Market Leaders. A great number of innovative firms, many of them family-led SMEs, have secured top positions in world markets from their locations right here. Where else could the particular GGS model - entrepreneurial spirit and innovative capacity, responsibility and commitment to sustainability - be taught?

Surrounded by idyllic hillside vineyards, Heilbronn and its population of 125,000 are well connected to transit networks. With direct access to highways A6 and A81, you can quickly reach Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Mannheim, or Würzburg. The airports in Frankfurt and Stuttgart can also easily be reached by car or by train.

Between the traditional and the modern

In 1810 Heinrich von Kleist put Heilbronn on the literary map with his play Das Käthchen von Heilbronn. At City Hall under the astronomical clock and across from the Gothic St. Kilian's Church, the city exudes the charm of older times. These two landmarks are two of the very few historical buildings that withstood the devastating air raid on 4 December 1944.

The modern side of the "City on the Neckar" extends from the historic center in the shopping mile, with its numerous stores and boutiques, especially in the Stadtgalerie with its more than 75 shops and eateries. The City Museums and the Heilbronn Theatre offer great variety for those eager for culture and learning. At Experimenta, a hands-on museum, adults and children explore fascinating phenomena of the natural sciences.

The "Besen" is a must

Aside from the Neckar river, it's the vineyards all around Heilbronn that give the city its look. Around 120 family businesses in and near Heilbronn produce the famous Wuerttemberger wine, predominantly Trollinger and Lemberger. Enjoying a "Viertele" glass of wine at a Besen – a traditional wine pub – must be part of any visit to Heilbronn. The so-called Besenkalender will tell you exactly which wine growers currently have an open Besen.

The Heilbronn-Franken region joins tradition and innovation, gemütlichkeit and open-mindeness - an ideal place to land on solid ground yet always keep growing.
