Personal Profile
Prior to joining German Graduate School of Management and Lawin September 2006 Harald Dolles received his Diploma in business administration from the University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany, with a focus on East Asia. From 1990 to 1992 he joint the team of Professor Horst Steinmann, Department of Business Administration and Strategic Management at Erlangen-Nuremberg University. He continued lecturing at the Department of International Management at Erlangen-Nuermberg University (Professor Briji Nino Kumar) till 1996, when he received his doctorate in international business/strategic management. In the same year he was appointed as assistant professor at the Department of Leadership and Human Resource Management at Bayreuth University (Professor Kühlmann) and taught on the University's sports business programme. From 2001 to 2006 Harald joined the German Institute for Japanese Studies (DIJ) - the German government supported think tank in Asia - as senior research fellow and was visiting faculty at Chûô University, Faculty of Commerce, Tôkyô . Besides researching at the DIJ, Harald served in administrative positions at the DIJ. He was an elected member of the Institute's Scientific Advisory Board and the Board of Trustees of the German Humanities Institutes Abroad Foundation (DGIA Foundation) as the research fellows' representative. He thereby represented more than a hundred research fellows working in the nine German federal research institutes in social sciences worldwide abroad, which are all united under the DGIA Foundation.
Based in Japan Harald continued doing research on IHRM, IJVs, international management, entrepreneurship, and sports business. He has held visiting positions across the globe and published books, book chapters and numerous articles. He is a member of the editorial boards of Asian Business & Management and International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship and contributes frequently to the meetings of the Academy of International Business, the European Academy of Management, the Euro-Asia Management Studies Association and the Association for Japanese Studies in Social Sciences. From childhood up Harald has been an active sports fan and sports man, more recently involved in classic motorcycle racing and sidecar racing with his kids.

    Executive secretary and treasurer
    of the Euro-Asia Management Studies Association. Elected by the Annual General Assembly I carry out legal, ethical, financial, and fiduciary responsibilities of the Association. As member of the EAMSA Board I ensure compliance with the law and, going beyond legal requirements, inquire as to the ethical nature of the actions of the Association, which has about 200 members worldwide.

    Research Assessment Exercise and Change Management Committee at D.G.I.A. Foundation by appointed of the German Federal Ministry of Education & Research. The mission of the committee is to manage research assessments and prioritize change within the foundation's organizational structures. The committee also works to review policies and procedures associated with change requests by the German government.

    Elected Research Fellows'
    Representative on the Board of Trustees of the D.G.I.A. Foundation. The Board of Trustees ensures compliance with the aims of the Foundation, and defines the position of the research institutes on fundamental questions of research policy. Within this Board I represented a multi-cultural workforce of more than a hundred research fellows working in ten German federal research institutes in social sciences located in Europe, Asia and the USA.

    Elected Spokesperson for all DIJ research fellows and member on the DIJ Scientific Advisory Board. The Scientific Advisory Board is responsible for establishing and monitoring the scientific goals and mission of the DIJ.
